Target Recalls 25,000 Dangerous Lamps Sold in Kentucky and Nationally

floor-lamp-imagePeople are injured and killed by all sorts of dangerous products in Kentucky – including ordinary household items like lamps that seem perfectly harmless.

On September 3, Target Corporation recalled more than 25,000 white, two-bulb floor lamps due to fire and shock hazards.

The move came after a half-dozen reports of short circuits in the lamps, resulting in fires, property damage and dangerous electrical shocks, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The lamps were sold nationwide from September 2012 through May 2013 for about $70.

Purchasers have been instructed to stop using the lamps immediately. They are further advised to unplug the lamps and return them to any Target store for a full refund.

The recall, which affects more than 25,000 lamps sold in the U.S. and Canada, was announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
